POLICE RETIRED SENIOR VOLUNTEER PATROL MEMBERS, DAVE BOSCARINO AND MIKE MEDLOCK, WILL BOTH BE REPRESENTED EACH WITH THE PRIDE OF LA VERNE CERTIFICATE FOR THEIR QUICK RESPONSE IN SUMMONING HELP FOR A JUVENILE IN DISTRESS.
COULD I PLEASE HAVE YOU TWO UP HERE? [APPLAUSE] THIS IS SPECIAL FOR ME TOO BECAUSE I THINK I'VE KNOWN DAVE BOSCARINO KNOW FOR TOO LONG.
MR. MEDLOCK, I'VE KNOWN HIS WIFE, JUDY, LONGER THAN HIM BECAUSE THE KIDS WENT TO SCHOOL TOGETHER SO I HAVE TWO GRANDKIDS, SO THAT GIVES YOU SOME IDEA HOW LONG THAT'S BEEN.
BUT WE'RE VERY PROUD OF YOU TWO, WE'RE VERY PROUD OF ALL OF OUR RSVPS.
ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 22ND, 2022, AT 03:05 PM, CORPORAL ANDREW MCKINLEY AND OFFICER ALLEN WINE ROB WERE ADVISED BY RETIRED SENIOR VOLUNTEER PATROL MEMBERS, DAVE BOSCARINO, AND MIKE MEDLOCK, THAT A BOY IS LAYING ON THE IS 210 FREEWAY OVERPASS AT EMERALD AVENUE AND S6 AVENUE AND WAS CRYING AND DISTRAUGHT.
UPON ARRIVAL, OFFICERS CONTACTED THE JUVENILE WHO WAS LAYING ON THE EAST SIDEWALK OF THE 210 FREEWAY OVERPASS IN THE 4400 BLOCK OF EMERALD AVENUE.
THE BOY APPEARED TO BE IN DISTRESS AS HE WAS CRYING, SHAKING, AND MUMBLING.
THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE BOY IS 16 YEARS OLD, AND WALKING HOME FROM BENITO HIGH-SCHOOL.
JUST PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, THE BOY POSTED ON SOCIAL MEDIA THAT HE WAS SUICIDAL.
THE BOY TOLD OFFICERS THAT HE WANTED TO HURT HIMSELF AND JUMP OFF THE FREEWAY OVERPASS.
HE SAID THAT HE HAD CONSIDERED JUMPING OFF THE FREEWAY OVERPASS PREVIOUSLY AND HE HAD BEEN WANTING TO COMMIT SUICIDE FOR A FEW WEEKS.
LA VERNE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO THE SCENE ALONG WITH THE BOY'S MOTHER.
LA VERNE FIRE DEPARTMENT TRANSPORTED THE BOY TO POMONA VALLEY HOSPITAL MEDICAL CENTER, WHERE HE WAS MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY EVALUATED.
THE QUICK ACTIONS ON THIS DAY SAVE THIS BOY'S LIFE, AND WE PRESENT RSVP BOSCORINO AND RSVP MEDLOCK WITH LA VERNE, PRIDE OF AWARD.

ISN'T THIS GREAT? FINALLY. ON FEBRUARY 7TH, 2022 AT 10:15 PM, CORPORAL SCRANTON AND OFFICER BAILEY RESPONDED TO A CALL FOR SERVICE REGARDING A MAN WHO OVERDOSED ON DRUGS, WAS UNCONSCIOUS AND NOT BREATHING.
UPON THEIR ARRIVAL, CORPORAL SCRANTON AND OFFICER BAILEY DETERMINED THAT THE MAN WAS BARELY BREATHING, HAD A RAPID PULSE, AND WAS UNCONSCIOUS.
CORPORAL SCRANTON AND OFFICER BAILEY ADMINISTERED TWO DOSES OF, THAT'S GOOD, NARCAN.
LET ME JUST SAY NARCAN, [LAUGHTER] THAT'S EASIER THEN NALOXONE OR WHATEVER IT IS, AND THE MAN REGAINED CONSCIOUSNESS.
HE WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL BY THE LA VERNE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHERE HE RECEIVED MEDICAL TREATMENT AND RECOVERED.
THE QUICK ACTIONS IN THIS NIGHT SAVED THE MAN'S LIFE, AND WE PRESENT THEM WITH THE LIFESAVING AWARD TO CORPORAL SCRANTON AND OFFICER BAILEY.

HIS EXPERTISE WILL ENSURE THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR OUR COMMUNITY BEFORE THE EMERGENCIES HAPPEN, WHILE ALSO PROVIDING THE SAFEST POSSIBLE ENVIRONMENT FOR THE FIREFIGHTERS WHEN THE EMERGENCIES DO OCCUR.
