AND WE HAD A NUMBER OF BUSINESSES THAT WERE, YOU KNOW, HAVING A LITTLE BIT DIFFICULT TIME. BUT IF YOU GO TO OLD TOWN NOW ESPECIALLY IN THE EVENINGS, ON THE WEEKENDS. IT'S HARD TO FIND A PLACE TO PARK. AND THE RESTAURANTS ARE BOOMING. THE OTHER BUSINESSES ARE JUST GOING CRAZY. IT'S HARD TO FIND A BUSINESS DISTRICT THAT HAS ZERO VACANCIES IN, YOU KNOW, IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, BUT OLD TOWN IS IS A VERY DESIRABLE PLACE. ONE THING I'M, I'M VERY HAPPY WITH IS WE'RE WE'RE STARTING TO SEE SOME OF THE, THE NEW FOLKS THAT HAVE BUSINESSES IN OLD TOWN ARE STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE. DO THEY HAVE TIME TO BE PROACTIVE, TO ANTICIPATE PROBLEMS, TO WORK WITH THE COMMUNITY, TO BE ENGAGED WITH THE COMMUNITY, TO WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THEM ON THE PROBLEMS THAT THEY'RE EXPERIENCING? THAT'S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT THAT THEY DO, BECAUSE OTHERWISE THEY'RE JUST RESPONDING TO THINGS THAT HAPPENED SEVERAL MINUTES AGO. IT'S ALSO A WAY OF DEVELOPING TRUST WITH THE COMMUNITY AND THROUGH ENGAGEMENT AND THROUGH THOSE PARTNERSHIPS. SOME OF THOSE HOURS, LIKE IN THE LATE AFTERNOON OR EARLY EVENING, IT MAY BE 2 OR 3 TIMES THAT LEVEL, BUT 2:00 IN THE MORNING, 3:00 IN THE MORNING, ETC. IT MAY BE ONE QUARTER OF THAT. RIGHT NOW, IT'S BEING MET ON A COLLATERAL BASIS BY EXISTING PATROL PERSONNEL, AND THE NEED IS GROWING TO HAVE A DEDICATED UNIT TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT. AND THE REASON IS THAT I MENTIONED THE TOP TEN CALLS FOR SERVICE. THIS IS A GRAPH THAT LOOKS AT WHAT THOSE TOP TEN THINGS ARE. OF COURSE, THAT CAN CHANGE THAT. PART ONE CRIME, MAJOR CRIME AND CALLS FOR SERVICE WILL GO GROW A LITTLE BIT FASTER THAN THAT, A LITTLE BIT BECAUSE OF METRO, BUT BECAUSE OF THINGS THAT AREN'T RESIDENTIALLY POPULATION BASED, LIKE INCREASED COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT THAT SO A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN 10% IN TERMS OF CRIME AND CALLS.
