THAT VETERAN'S DAY IS NEXT MONDAY. AND THE POST WILL BE CELEBRATING ON VETERANS DAY AT 11 O'CLOCK NOVEMBER 11TH. I USED TO BE ARMISTICE. NOW IT'S VETERANS DAY AND THEY WILL BE AT THE POST DOING A CELEBRATION FOR VETERANS DAY. AND THERE'S SOMETHING REALLY REALLY SPECIAL GOING TO BE THERE THAT DAY. SO I WOULD ADVISE GETTING THERE AND BEING A PART OF IT TAKES ABOUT AN HOUR SHOULD BE DONE BY 12:00. SO PLEASE AT 10:00 AT THIS TIME I'D LIKE TO CALL THE POST UP TO STAND IN FRONT OF US. GENTLEMEN.

SERGEANT I WAS AN ENGINEER BUT BECAUSE WE WERE A COMPANY OF TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY SOLDIERS WITH RIFLES [INAUDIBLE] UP BEING MOST OF THE TIME IN INFANTRY ALTHOUGH I WAS AN ENGINEER IN VIETNAM. I HAVE TO TELL YOU FIRST I'M PRETTY NERVOUS. INFANTRY TRAINING CAMP [INAUDIBLE] NORTH CAROLINA. I WAS ASSIGNED TO A FIELD COMPANY WENT THROUGH A LOCK ON TRAINING. ULTIMATELY FROM THE LINE COMPANY ADVANCED TO REGIMENTAL HEADQUARTERS 2ND INFANTRY TRAINING REGIMENT AT CAMP PENDLETON AND AFTER TWO AND A HALF YEARS THEY'RE SENT TO VIETNAM IN 1966-67. I SERVED WITH FORCE LOGISTICS COMMAND AT HEADQUARTERS AND I ALSO WAS A SWIM INSTRUCTOR IN UTILIZED THAT ALSO AS I WAS AT THE CHINA BEACH NOT THE CHINA BEACH OF TV BUT THE CHINA BEACH THERE IN VIETNAM A LOT DIFFERENT. SEMPER FI. I'M THE ONE THAT THE MARINES AND ARMY WILL MAKE FUN OF BECAUSE I'M SERGEANT DANIEL LOPEZ WITH THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE HAS AIRCRAFT ELECTRICIAN [INAUDIBLE] B-52'S AND F4'S.  VIETNAM VETERAN WAS VERY PROUD TO SERVE AND VERY PROUD TO BE COMMANDER OF LA VERNE'S VFW POST 1 2 0 3 4 BAND OF BROTHERS. MY NAME IS DAVID ALVARADO AND I'VE BEEN A RESIDENT HERE OF LA VERNE FOR 40 YEARS NOW AND I LOVE THIS TOWN. I SERVED IN THE ARMY FROM 1967 TO 1969 AND I WAS DEPLOYED TO THE DMZ IN KOREA. ALL MY TRAINING WAS DONE AT FORD AND I WAS TRAINED TO BE A FIELD COMMUNICATIONS. AND WHEN I GOT TO KOREA THEY CHANGED THAT MOS TO ARTILLERY AND EVENTUALLY I BECAME A RADIO CARRIER FOR FORWARD OBSERVER. SO I SPENT A LOT OF TIME MOVING AROUND THE DMZ AREA FOR 14 MONTHS. MY TWELVE MONTH TOUR TURNED OUT TO BE 14 BUT WHEN I WAS DONE THEY SAID WE'RE JUST GOING TO DISCHARGE YOU WHEN YOU GET HOME AND I SAID THANK YOU BUT I'M VERY PROUD TO DO THE DUTY I DID. THANK YOU. REPRESENTATIVE COMES OUT TO OUR POST TO HELP VETERANS WITH ANY MEDICAL PAPERWORK THAT WOULD ISSUES THAT THEY MAY HAVE. WE'RE ALSO HAVE AN HONOR GUARD THAT WE PROVIDE FUNERAL SERVICES FOR VETERANS THAT HAVE GONE. YOU WILL FIND US OUT AT RIVERSIDE NATIONAL CEMETERY ROSE HILLS FOREST LAWN UP IN PASADENA AT MOUNT VIEW. WE PROVIDE COLOR GUARD POSTING OR PRESENTING THE COLORS FOR SCHOOLS. WE'VE DONE ALSO FOR SEVERAL CONGRESSWOMEN GRACE NAPOLITANO JUDY CHU [INAUDIBLE] TORRES WERE ASKED TO ATTEND SOME HIGH SCHOOLS TALK TO HISTORY STUDENTS ABOUT OUR MILITARY SERVICES. FOR THEM TO GET A BETTER UNDERSTANDING I THINK THAT KIND OF COVERS MOST OF WHAT WE DO. THERE'S A LOT OF OTHER STUFF THAT PROBABLY GETS US STARTED. IS MY IDEA. ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF SERVICE. WE JUST BOLDLY WENT UP KNOCKED ON THE DOOR AND THEY ALL SAID WELL COME ON IN. WE LOVE BRENT WATERMAN. WE WANT TO BE ON TELEVISION. THE APPLICANT IS PROPOSING TO OPERATE A U-HAUL VEHICLE RENTAL AGENCY AS AN ADDITIONAL USE TO THE EXISTING AUTO REPAIR SHOP. STAFF HAS HAD SEVERAL DISCUSSIONS AND EXPRESSED CONCERNS TO THE APPLICANT AND THE U-HAUL REPRESENTATIVE. OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS REGARDING THE OPERATION OF A U-HAUL RENTAL AGENCY IN CONJUNCTION WITH THAT BUSINESS ACCORDING TO THE AERO CORRIDOR OUR SPECIFIC PLAN VEHICLE REPAIR SHOP PARKING REQUIREMENTS SHALL BE ONE SPACE PER EVERY TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY SQUARE FEET OF GROSS BUILDING AREA. THE TOTAL SQUARE FOOTAGE OF THE BUILDING IS TWO THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY SQUARE FEET. THEREFORE A TOTAL OF NINE PARKING SPACES IS REQUIRED. THE SITE PLAN PROVIDED FOR FOUR PARKING SPACES INCLUDING ONE HANDICAPPED SPACE A COMPACT SPACE AND TWO STANDARD PARKING SPACES. THEREFORE THERE IS A PARKING DEFICIT OF FIVE PARKING SPACES AFTER MULTIPLE SITE VISITS BY STAFF. STAFF HAS EXPLAINED TO THE APPLICANT THAT THE PARKING REQUIRED FOR THE BUILDING SHALL BE ON THEIR PRIVATE PROPERTY AND NOT ON STREET PARKING. PUBLIC PARKING AREAS THE EXISTING VEHICLE REPAIR BUSINESS WITHOUT THE ADDITION OF A U-HAUL SALES IS NONCONFORMING TO THE CURRENT ZONING REGULATIONS DUE TO THE LACK OF REQUIRED PARKING. HER PARENTS CATHERINE AND JESSIE BRANT BROUGHT DOROTHY AND GERALD TO JOIN OTHER SIBLINGS BETTY LLOYD AND BERNICE TO THEIR NEW HOME ON 3RD STREET LA VERNE CALIFORNIA.
